As of September 30, 2025, there were a total of 20,116 people aged 16 to 23 in care or formerly in care, representing a 155.3% increase since
June 30, 2021. This increase is highest among young people aged 18 to 23 who have left care, at 190.3%.
The Statistics on Unaccompanied Minors and Young Persons Out of Guardianship, aged 16 to 23, with a valid residence permit is compiled from files extracted from the Central Register of Foreigners and Social Security affiliation files, and shows data on the legal situation of foreigners aged 16 to 23 who had legal residence documentation as an unaccompanied minor or young person ex-guardian in the Reference date. It also provides information about their employment situation.
This data is published quarterly providing monthly data since June 2021.
The data from the last quarters may be affected in later publications due to the incorporation of new information.
