Milagros Paniagua visits the projects developed by the “la Caixa” and Bofill foundations with beneficiaries of the IMV

The general secretary of Objectives and Policies of Inclusion and Social Security, Milagros Paniagua, has visited the inclusion itineraries for beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) and the Guaranteed Income of Citizenship developed in Barcelona and Badalona by the “la Caixa” Foundation and the Bofill Foundation.
Both itineraries are part of the 34 projects included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and have been launched by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration in collaboration with the autonomous communities, municipalities and entities of the third social sector. All of them seek a new model of inclusion, based on the IMV, that reduces income inequality and extreme and moderate poverty rates.
In Catalonia, nine itineraries are deployed that will carry out interventions on 34,112 beneficiaries. Most are focused on energy poverty, social and labor inclusion, and educational performance.
In Barcelona, Milagros Paniagua spoke with the management team of the Fundación de la Esperanza, a social action entity close to the “la Caixa” Foundation. Within Catalonia they develop a project in Sabadell, Barcelona and Badalona, with 250 minors and their families. The pilot project, implemented since February of this year, aims to support early childhood in families in a situation of social vulnerability due to poverty. We work with mothers and fathers of children from 0 to 3 years old, strengthening their social skills and supporting them in the processes of labor and social insertion.
Subsequently, the Secretary General of Inclusion held a meeting with the heads of the Bofill Foundation that carries out three educational projects in compulsory primary and secondary education centers that reinforce the effectiveness of the IMV: Lecxit, Math Tutoring and Pentabilities. These programs target 8,000 beneficiaries and seek to influence the improvement of the educational performance of children and adolescents from vulnerable and poor environments through interventions that ensure conditions of educability, attention and school reinforcement. Paniagua paid a visit to the Ítaca School in Badalona, where he attended a Math Tutoring session.
