The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration promotes ‘Trajectories’, an initiative to gather the experiences of young Spaniards living abroad, with the aim of contributing to the design of public policies more effective and adjusted to the reality.

The Secretary of State for Migration puts into operation, through the Directorate General of Spanish Citizenship in Foreign Affairs and Return Policies, the digital and anonymous survey ‘Trajectories’, aimed at young Spaniards between 20 and 39 years old who are currently living abroad. For her part, María Jesús Herrera, Head of Mission of the IOM in Spain, has also stressed that “listening to their voices allows us to advance in the design of migratory policies that conceive return not only as an opportunity to recover talent, but also as a way to enhance the contribution of young Spaniards to the economic, social, political and community development of the country.”

After the collection of the results of the survey, the IOM will prepare a study based on the rigorous analysis of the information collected through digital interviews. This study will provide a comprehensive view of the profiles and trajectories of young Spanish citizens living abroad, also analyzing links with the country of origin, expectations of return and forms of political and associative participation, among other aspects.

IOM has extensive experience in the collection, analysis and management of data on human mobility, especially supporting governments around the world in the design of evidence-based migration policies.
