Llegan a Huelva las primeras 100 temporeras marroquíes que recibirán formación en emprendimiento en 2023

The first 100 Moroccan women out of the 200 who will participate in the second phase of the Wafira project, a regular migration program with Morocco from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, have arrived in Huelva. These women, in addition to working on the campaign to collect soft fruit in Huelva, will receive training in entrepreneurship for the implementation of income-generating activities on their return to Morocco.

Wafira is a project funded by the European Union through the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) mechanism, and designed, implemented and periodically monitored by the governments of Spain and Morocco with the aim of strengthening relations based on collaboration in the field of regular migration.

The program consists of the training of several temporary women who every year come to Spain from Morocco within the framework of the circular migration program GECCO, in order to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to start small businesses on their return to Morocco.

The benefits that Wafira brings to both Moroccan women and the rest of those involved in the process can be seen in the success of the first phase of the program, in which 50 women participated. After their return to Morocco, they have already formalized their business projects, for which they have received 80% of the funding necessary to implement them. Among the proposals they have initiated are grocery stores, clothing stores, taxi services and bakery and pastry workers.

The event that inaugurates the 22-23 campaign was attended by Antonio Alvarado, head of the Migration Unit of the Subdelegation of Government in Huelva; Francisco J. Contreras, president of Agrifood Cooperatives of Huelva; Gabriel Trenzado, general director of Agrifood Cooperatives of Spain, and Yolanda Rubio, deputy of Economic and Social Innovation of the County of Huelva.
