La Seguridad Social incorporará de forma inmediata 1.615 trabajadores para mejorar la atención al ciudadano

The Secretary of State for Social Security and Pensions, Borja Suárez, announced this Thursday, during the meeting of the General Council of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) that the modification of the employment relationships of the Ministry and the Managing Entities and Common Services of Social Security has been approved, which will create 1,615 jobs “with which it will strengthen the attention to the citizen”. “There is a political will to resolve the abandonment that the organization has suffered since the beginning of the last decade, to reinforce its structure and promote its modernization in means and effectiveness,” explained Suárez.

The posts, 645 from subgroup A2 and 970 from subgroup C1, will be filled in the first instance by interim staff members who will be recruited immediately. This step, which represents an increase in system-wide staff of 7.42 per cent (and 8.43 per cent if one considers only the increase at the level of the National Institute of Social Security and the General Treasury of Social Security), also represents the first net increase in the number of Social Security staff in the last 10 years.

The measure is part of the shock plan implemented by the Social Security to alleviate the shortage of staff as a result of the cutback measures adopted during the financial crisis. The plan includes two more important milestones this year: the macro competition for the provision of vacant jobs, which will involve the incorporation of hundreds more personnel, and the redesign of the selective processes, which seeks to drastically reduce the management times necessary for the recruitment of new career officials and which will therefore contribute to Social Security receiving reinforcements with more agility.
