The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, co-chairs with her Portuguese counterpart, Maria Do Rosário Palma Ramalho, the OECD Social Policy Forum to be held in Paris tomorrow, Friday, 14 February. This high-level meeting brings together ministers, social partners and academic experts to discuss the future of social protection and social investment strategies in the current context.
During the day, participants will address the main challenges facing social protection systems, including population ageing, the digital transformation of the labour market and the need to ensure the sustainability of social security systems.
Minister Saiz will also hold a bilateral meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann to discuss Spain’s social policy priorities and the organisation’s recommendations for strengthening the resilience of social protection systems.
On Friday morning, at 11 a.m., the minister will give a statement to the media present in the plenary.
Meeting with the community
In addition, the minister will meet with representatives of the Spanish community in France, at a meeting where she will present the main initiatives of the Ministry aimed at Spaniards abroad and listen to their needs and proposals.
Among these initiatives is the implementation of the new Regulation of Spanish citizenship abroad, which will focus on the return of people living outside our country.
In this regard, since last Monday, February 10, the procedure for prior consultation of the Regulation has been open. The objective is to seek the opinion of the emigrant population, associations and organizations before starting the normative process.
