The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration will add an information tent next week to the campaign launched last October with the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) bus. Citizens who are interested both in knowing the benefit and the status of their application or want to know if they are entitled to it and, if applicable, request it, can go to it without having to make an appointment.
The information tent, which begins its tour in the Canary Islands, will be on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 February in Las Palmas (San Telmo Park) and on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 March in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Avenida Príncipe de España, 7, in front of the CC Yumbo). The tent, equipped with two information spaces from 9 to 14 hours and from 15 to 18 hours, will soon move to Ceuta, Melilla and the Balearic Islands.
For its part, the IMV informative bus will continue its journey through the peninsular territory tomorrow Saturday 25 and Monday 27 in Logroño (Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Avenida de la Paz, 11); on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 March, in Santander (Parking Campo de Fútbol El Sardinero); and on Saturday 4 and Monday 6, in Gijón, Asturias, (Parking Estadio El Molinón), with the same hours of attention.
The bus, whose objective is to approach the possible beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income who have not requested the benefit and inform them about it, has been this week in Zaragoza, on February 22 and 23. Since the beginning of this ‘mobile office’ service and until yesterday, a total of 3,244 people have been served.
Regarding the profile of the people served by the bus, it is noted that 67% are women, and 54% had applied for the benefit previously. Among those who had already requested the IMV, 49% were in the process and, among those who had not requested it, 36% was due to ignorance and 32% explained that it was because they thought they did not meet the requirements.
On the motivation of the people who have approached the bus, 71% did so to request information, 24% to resolve doubts and 3% to be accompanied in the processing.
More than half a million households with IMV
The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) has reached 560,809 households in which 1,579,949 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security until the end of January. This benefit, which is paid for by Social Security, is having a special impact on the reduction of child poverty since 42.8 per cent of the total beneficiaries are minors (676,288).
