Escrivá se reúne con representantes sindicales y diputados laboristas de Reino Unido

The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, met with a delegation of British trade unionists from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) headed by its general secretary, Frances O’Grady, and in which Labour MPs Jonathan Ashworth, Justin Madders and Louise Haigh also participated.

The minister was accompanied by Borja Suárez, secretary of the State for Social Security and Pensions. The meeting was also attended by Jesús Gallego, Secretary of International Relations of UGT, and Carlos Bravo, Confederal Secretary of Social Protection and Public Policies of CCOO.

During the meeting, José Luis Escrivá highlighted the importance of social dialogue to design effective and legitimate policies, such as the 15 agreements reached so far in the legislature to tackle the socio-economic consequences of the pandemic, modernize our labor market and secure pensions.

In this regard, he highlighted the good functioning of the ERTE and the extraordinary benefits for the self-employed, while highlighting the important role of tripartite negotiation in labour reform, which has already shown its positive impact on job creation and the improvement of its quality. They have also examined the effects of pension reform, which has made it possible, among other things, to give pensioners certainty by creating an annual revaluation mechanism that maintains their purchasing power. They have also addressed the importance of the recommendations collected at the parliamentary level (Toledo Pact Commission) and of the social dialogue to achieve the agreement that opened the door to the approval of this reform.
