El Gobierno aprueba una subvención al COE para favorecer la práctica de deportes en los centros de acogida

The Council of Ministers has approved, on the proposal of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the granting of a grant to the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) to contribute to the promotion of the practice of sport in the centres of the public network for the reception of applicants for international protection and migrants.

The grant, of 1.5 million euros until 2026, will allow the collaboration of the COE in the design of plans to achieve optimal use of sports spaces and the promotion of the use of sports facilities both by the residents of the reception centers and the neighbors of the areas where they are located. In addition, the COE will collaborate in the design of training plans and programs and will select former elite athletes as “ambassadors” of each of the centers.

The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration signed a collaboration agreement with the COE in December to promote the sports integration of migrants served in the reception system. As a result of this agreement, the Ministry undertook to build facilities and spaces that strengthen participation in sport in the centers of the system, with the aim of promoting the integration of the users in the localities where they are located.
