El autobús del Ingreso Mínimo Vital estará la próxima semana en Reus, Barcelona y Cornellà de Llobregat

The information bus of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) will travel to Catalonia next week. Specifically, it will be in Reus (Tarragona) on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th February, in Barcelona on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th, and in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona) on Saturday 11th and Monday 13th. Citizens who are interested both in knowing the benefit and the status of their application or want to know if they are entitled to it and, if applicable, request it, can go without the need for an appointment.

In Reus, the bus will be parked Tuesday and Wednesday at the Plaça de la Llibertat; on Thursday and Friday, in Barcelona, on the Rambla del Raval; and on Saturday 11 and Monday 13, in Cornellà de Llobregat, at the junction between Carrer de Joan Arús i Borràs with Av. Saint Ildefons. The hours of care are from 9 to 14 hours and from 15 to 18 hours.

The bus, which was launched in October 2022 with the aim of getting closer to the possible beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income who have not requested the benefit and informing them about it, was this week in Alicante (30 January), in Valencia (1 and 2 February) and in Castellón (today Friday and tomorrow Saturday). Since the beginning of this ‘mobile office’ service and until today at 12:00 a total of 2,683 people have been served.

With regard to the profile of the persons cared for, it is noted that 68% are women, and 55% had previously applied for the benefit. Among those who had already requested the IMV, 49% were in the process and, among those who had not requested it, 35% was due to ignorance and 33% explained that it was because they thought they did not meet the requirements.

On the motivation of the people who have approached the bus, 71% did so to request information, 25% to resolve doubts and 3% to be accompanied in the processing.

More than half a million households with IMV

The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) has reached 560,809 households in which 1,579,949 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security until the end of January. This benefit, which is paid for by Social Security, is having a special impact on the reduction of child poverty since 42.8 per cent of the total beneficiaries are minors (676,288).
