    This Manual contains references to the EU non-discrimination directives, article 14 of Protocol 12 of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as other instruments of the Council of Europe, in particular the European Charter of Social Rights, and from the United Nations. It also highlights the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union in the field of non-discrimination.

    It is a tool for legal professionals, such as judges, prosecutors and lawyers, as well as law enforcement officials, in the EU and in the member states of the Council of Europe.

    It contains six chapters: 1.- Introduction to European non-discrimination law: context, evolution and key principles; 2.- Discrimination categories; 3.- Justification for less favorable treatment under European non-discrimination law; 4.- Selected areas of protection, 5.- Protected grounds, 6.- Procedural issues in non-discrimination law.
