  • With November data, employment growth for the whole of 2022 is expected to be close to 4%, in highs of recent years
  • Innovative activities such as informatics and telecommunications are growing significantly throughout the national territory

In November, in seasonally adjusted terms, Social Security membership totaled 78,695 people, reaching a total of 20,319,146 employed. This adds up to 19 consecutive months of increased employment.

So far this year, the increase is more than 480,000 affiliates (480,044), discounting seasonality and the calendar effect. In this way, the number of affiliates in August 2021 is exceeded by about 825,000 people, when the level of pre-pandemic affiliation was exceeded.

The behavior of employment in this month of November is better than in the average 2017-2019, years of great dynamism in the labor market, in which the monthly variation in seasonally adjusted terms was 37,000 employed on average, compared to 78,695 this year.

In addition, data from the first eleven months of the year allow us to anticipate a growth of affiliation in the whole of 2022 close to 4%, the highest rate of growth in recent years.

The dynamism of employment in innovative activities is maintained

The growth of employment records a remarkable dynamism in high added value sectors such as Informatics and Telecommunications, which has 18.5% more affiliates than before the pandemic, or Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (10.4%).

In fact, activities that grow by more than 10% compared to pre-pandemic levels are, for the most part, high-productivity activities. This is the case of Programming, consulting and computer activities, which since February 2020 has added 27% of affiliates. It is followed by Activities in headquarters and business management consulting (18.1%), Film, video and television activities (17.7%), R&D (17.6%) and Forestry and forestry (17.3%).

More than 2.3 million indefinite

Eleven months after the entry into force of the labour reform, its positive effects on improving the quality of employment continue to be appreciated. In November, the increase in affiliates with indefinite contracts, which exceeds 2.3 million people compared to the end of 2021, continues to accelerate. Among those under 30 years of age, there are already 2 million affiliates with an indefinite contract.

In addition, there is greater stability in the labor market. Affiliates with contracts of less than 30 days have been reduced by more than 3 million and the average duration of the total contracts that have caused a decrease in these eleven months has been increased by 49 days compared to the same period of 2019.

On the other hand, the number of workers in ERTE remains stable in the area of the 20,000 employed.

Average affiliation

Finally, in original terms, the average Social Security membership remains in November, with 155 fewer members than in October. This figure contrasts with the turnouts of the years 2017-2019, in which, on average, there has been a decline of 37,000 affiliates.

The total number of average members stands at 20,283,631 (10,747,427 men and 9,536,203 women), which is 531,273 more than a year ago.
