1. The performance of the functions of legal management of the Social Security system, elaborating and interpreting the rules and provisions that affect that system, unifying and dictating the normative criteria necessary for its effectiveness.
2. The study, report and, where appropriate, proposal of the rules governing the system of Social Security and special pensions, for the purposes of their coherence and compatibility.
3. The preparation, processing and, where appropriate, resolution of proposals for sanctions arising from infringements in the field of Social Security.
4. The processing of the procedure for the application of retirement age reducing coefficients.
5. The coordination of actions and the elaboration of proposals in order to integrate into Social Security the contingencies and benefits covered by Substitute Entities or excluded from it with respect to certain groups.
6. The monitoring and elaboration of normative proposals regarding the contingencies and benefits provided by the Alternative Entities.
7. The study and report on complementary social security instruments for their development, coherence and compatibility with the Social Security benefits system and the elaboration of normative proposals regarding the principles and regimes of coordination between public and complementary pensions in the workplace.
