La secretaria de Estado de Migraciones inaugura la reunión del Pleno del Foro para la Integración Social de los Inmigrantes

The Secretary of State for Migration, Isabel Castro, has opened the meeting of the plenary of the Forum for the Social Inclusion of Immigrants held this morning. The Director of Migration has stressed that the Forum will continue to be a fundamental space to make the realities of migration visible, produce knowledge and promote policies and actions that contribute to the inclusion of migrants and refugees, as well as the protection of their rights.
Castro has been accompanied by the president of the Forum, Ángeles Solanes, and the general director of Humanitarian Care and Social Inclusion of Immigration and vice-president of the Forum, Miriam Benterrak, among other representatives of the Administration and social organizations.
The annual report on the situation of migrants and refugees in Spain was presented in the plenary session. This work gives continuity to the analysis of the effects of the pandemic that has been carried out since 2020.
Throughout the report, the need to strengthen International Protection is identified, especially in the access of people to procedures; to attend to the increase of racist and xenophobic hate speeches; to advance in the digitalization of the Administration; and to sustain and improve the implementation of those measures that have been key in protecting the rights of immigrants and refugees during successive crises. The report highlights as positive measures the “Operation Antigone”, to regulate the reception of migrants from Afghanistan, and the reform of the Regulation on Foreigners in relation to unaccompanied children and ex-guardianship youth.
