The employment maintains a remarkable dynamism in August with 65,000 more affiliates in seasonally adjusted terms

Job creation will continue in August for the 16th consecutive month, with an expected increase in Social Security enrolments of 65,000 people in seasonally adjusted terms, according to the experimental statistics prepared with the data available in the first half of the month. This growth is above the average monthly job creation for the period 2017-19 and the period January-July 2022.
With this new increase, 340,000 new jobs will have been added since the beginning of the year and 700,000 affiliates since August last year, when pre-pandemic levels were reached.
The new increase in seasonally corrected membership and the calendar effect in August, of 65,000 people, is higher than the average recorded in the 2017–2019 period, of 28,000. In the original series, in which August has a very seasonally marked profile, the expected average membership is 187,000 fewer members, a smaller decline than the average for the pre-pandemic years, of minus 199,000.
By sector, it is observed that one month more employment recovery reaches almost all and is more intense in activities with greater added value, with a particularly favorable variation compared to the levels prior to the pandemic in Informatics and Communications (+17.1%), Education (+12.3%) and Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (+9.2%).
The growth of affiliation is also territorially widespread. In the last year, the increase has been especially intense in the Valencian Community and in the two archipelagos, with variations greater than 5%.
The data also show that the shift in recruitment towards indefinite formulas brought about by labour reform is consolidated as a trend. In August, 81% of affiliates had an indefinite contract (12 percentage points more than in previous years). Among those under 30 years of age, the increase is 31 percentage points: from an average of 34% of the exhausts in the years 2015-2021 to 65% in August 2022. There are a total of 1.6 million more affiliates with indefinite contracts than in the pre-pandemic years.
As for the ERTE, the figures continue to decrease: the workers involved in ERTE ETOP are just over 15,000, levels that are approximately half of those recorded at different times in April and May. The number of workers in the sectoral NETWORK mechanism of travel agencies, for its part, stabilizes somewhat above the 1,600, half of the levels recorded last May. One in two workers in ERTE ETOP and two in three in the sectoral RED mechanism has partial suspension of employment.
